Sure, Pacman's gotten in trouble a lot, but what did he do to earn his latest suspension? Scuffled with his bodyguard? I'm not sure that's enough to kick a player out of the NFL. Keep him on a short leash, yes. Suspend him indefinitely? No.
Reinstate Pacman Jones to the NFL?
THE ISSUE
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones has been reinstated by the NFL after being suspended from football since October 16th. Jones has been arrested six times and has been involved in 13 incidents with police since he entered the league in 2005. Was the NFL right to lift his suspension?
Arguments Against
A report from ESPN's Chris Mortenson says sources close to the individuals involved in the decision on Pacman Jones (Goodell) reinstatement are saying that any further incident from Jones will result in a lifetime ban. As much as I'd like to applaud this move it just sort of reinforces my belief that Goodell made a poor decision in reinstating Pacman in the first place. This lifetime ban warning was the culmination of a process that included the opinions of the individuals that oversaw Jones' "rehab". If Pacman was nothing but cooperative and his rehab was fruitful in terms of helping him deal with his problems, why would a lifetime ban warning be necessary...
