New York: Should Gov. Paterson resign?
Governer David Paterson of New York has been rocked by scandals in recent weeks. An expose by the New York Times revealed that he interfered in a domestic violence case involving a top aide, and that he may have involved the State Police.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand has called for him to step down if the allegations prove true. The National Organization for Women, which in the past has praised the Governor for his efforts on behalf of combating violence against women, has now called for his resignation. Common Cause/NY, which stood by Paterson during his ethics reform battle with the State Legislature has also decided that it is time for him to go "for the good of the state."
An unrelated ethics violation has also recently come to light involving the Governor receiving free Yankees tickets.
